BBQ or Oven
Serves 4
8 min
Ingredients
- 2 large tomatoes, thickly sliced
- 8 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
- Fresh basil leaves
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Balsamic glaze
Instructions
- Heat your Himalayan salt block gradually to prevent cracking: 15 minutes on low, then raise the heat in stages over another 10-15 minutes until it reaches searing temperature (about 450-500°F). In the oven, place the cold block in a cold oven and heat to 450°F over 30 minutes.
- Brush tomato slices lightly with oil and sear on the hot block 2 minutes per side.
- Add the mozzarella for the last minute just to soften.
- Layer tomato, mozzarella, and basil; finish with balsamic glaze.
Salt Block Tip
Add cheese only at the end — a few seconds on the block softens it without melting it away.
